“THE HIDDEN BIRD”. Watercolor by Olga Morărescu-Mărginean

Artfooly, The Slice of Art Gallery is proud to present “THE HIDDEN BIRD”, our first exhibition in 2016.

Mrs. Olga Morărescu-Mărginean was born in 1942, in Craiova, Romania. In 1963 she graduated from the Faculty of Drawing at the Pedagogical Institute, University of Bucharest, having Grigore Spirescu and Viorel Mărginean as professors. In 1982 she graduated from the Faculty of Art History and Art Theory, drawing-museology department, at the “Nicolae Grigorescu” Institute of Arts in Bucharest, having as professors: Vasile Drăguț, Radu Florescu, Răzvan Theodorescu.

The first exhibition of the year at Artfooly, “THE HIDDEN BIRD” brings to our attention both older and recent creations by Olga Morărescu-Mărginean.

Watercolors and drawings, surprising in their elegance and simplicity, the artist’s works have a specific dynamics, best described by the author herself:

I would like the lines I trace on a white background to get outside the space of the painting, wander through the room, move up the walls. I would like people to see them getting longer, springing out of the painting, dancing through the room.”

Each painting pulsates life, luring the viewer into the world imagined by the painter like a window open towards a universe which seems to materialize under her brush strokes.
